IHANA KASVIHUONE - A WONDERFUL GREENHOUSE

 

Tämän postauksen aloitan näyttämällä aivan ihastuttavan kortin jonka lähetti Jessica USA:sta. Jessica kertoo että Wisconsinissa, jossa hän asuu, asuu paljon aikoinaan Suomesta sinne muuttaneiden jälkeläisiä.

Ja onpa Jessica itsekin tällainen jälkeläinen, suomenkielisine sukunimineen! Hän sanoo että Wisconsin muistuttaa paljon Suomea ja ehkä juuri siksi suomalaiset muuttivat sinne.

I'll start this post by showing you an absolutely lovely card sent by Jessica from the USA. Jessica says that in Wisconsin, where she lives, there are many descendants of people who once moved there from Finland. And Jessica herself is one of those descendants, with her Finnish surname! She says that Wisconsin is very similar to Finland and maybe that's why Finns moved there.

..ja toinen Tampereelta. Tänä vuonna näiden World Postcard Dayn korttien aiheena oli puu. Kiitos Outi ja Silpa kauniista korteista.

Tämä kortti tulee Israelista ja se onkin ensimmäinen kortti sieltä, eli uusi maa tulee korttikokoelmaani. Rakennus joka kuvassa on, sijaitsee Tel Avivissa ja sen on suunnitellut Yitzhak Rapaport.

This card comes from Israel and it is the first card from there, meaning a new country is coming to my card collection. The building in the picture is located in Tel Aviv and was designed by Yitzhak Rapaport.

Vielä riittää Maailman Postikorttipäivän kortteja. Tämä tuli Kiinasta. Sen lähetti tie-ja siltasuunnittelijana toimiva Ameng joka asuu Zhengzhou-nimisessä kaupungissa Keski-Kiinassa.

11 lähettämääni korttia on tälläkin hetkellä matkalle vastaanottajilleen. Noista yhdestätoista kortista 8 on matkalla Aasiaan, joten perille tulo kestää. Näistä kauimmin matkaa tehneen kortin lähetin 47 päivää sitten, joten kärsivällisyyttä tarvitaan perille menon odottamisessa. Jos ei jokin kortti ole saapunut vastaanottajalle kuudessakymmenessä päivässä, niin postcrossing arpoo lähettäjälle uuden osoitteen johon sitten saa kortin lähettää.

Ihmettelin postcrossingin facebook-yhmässä sitä miksi minulle on tullut näin paljon Aasia-osoitteita ja sain yhdeltä ryhmäläiseltä mielenkiintoisen arvelun asiasta.

Hän oli huomannut sellaisen seikan, että jos hän ottaa uuden osoitteen aamulla tai päivällä, niin osoite on useimmiten juuri Aasiaan. Mutta kun ottaa osoitteen illalla, niin varmimmin saa Eurooppa-tai USA-osoitteen. Tämä johtunee aikaeroista eli tuntuisi että osoitteen saa siihen maailmanosaan jossa ollaan hereillä silloin kun osoitetta ottaa. Nyt kokeilen tätä itsekin, sillä malttamattomana tykkään siitä että kortit menevät ripeästi perille.

Joku varmaan ihmettelee miksi minulle on niin tärkeää että kortit menevät mahdollisimman pian perille. No siksi, että joka kerta kun lähettämäni kortin vastaanottaja kuittaa kortin perille tulleeksi, saan minä uuden osoitteen johon voin kortin lähettää.

There are still plenty of World Postcard Day cards. This one came from China. It was sent by Ameng, a road and bridge designer who lives in a city called Zhengzhou in central China. 11 of the cards I sent are currently on their way to their recipients. Of those eleven cards, 8 are on their way to Asia, so it will take some time to arrive. I sent the card that traveled the furthest 47 days ago, so patience is needed when waiting for it to arrive. If a card has not arrived at the recipient within sixty days, Postcrossing will draw a new address for the sender to send the card to. I was wondering in the Postcrossing Facebook group why I have received so many Asian addresses and I got an interesting guess from one of the group members about it. He had noticed that if he takes a new address in the morning or during the day, the address is most often in Asia. But if he takes an address in the evening, he is most likely to get a European or US address. This is probably due to the time difference, meaning it would seem that you get the address in the part of the world where you are awake when you get the address. Now I'm trying this myself, because as an impatient person I like my cards to arrive quickly. Someone must be wondering why it's so important to me that my cards arrive as soon as possible. Well, because every time the recipient of a card I send confirms that the card has arrived, I get a new address to send the card to.
