AIKA MONTA TULI - MANY CARDS CAME

 

Taas on kertynyt paljon kortteja. Tässä kaikki viime päivinä tulleet kortit:

Upea kortti, jossa näkyy Vapaudenpatsas ja pilvenpiirtäjät tulee USA:sta. Lähettäjä on ollut kovin lyhytsanainen sillä kortissa lukee vain "Hallo", eikä edes lähettäjän nimeä siitä löydy. Mutta kortti on tosi kaunis.

There have been a lot of cards again. Here are all the cards that have arrived in the last few days: A beautiful card showing the Statue of Liberty and skyscrapers from the USA. The sender has been very brief because the card only says "Hello", and there is not even the sender's name on it. But the card is really beautiful.

Sienikortin lähetti Anne, joka on eläköitynyt hoitaja.  Nyt eläkeläisenä hän nauttii kotinsa puutarhatöistä ja viettää aikaa  seitsemän lapsenlapsensa kanssa.

The mushroom card was sent by Anne, a retired nurse. Now retired, she enjoys gardening at home and spending time with her seven grandchildren.

Majakkakortti tuli Natalielta USA:sta. Hän asuu Chicagossa.  Tämä  majakka on Michigan-järven rannalla.  Natalie nauttii syksystä kauniita maisemia ihaillen.

The lighthouse card came from Natalie from the USA. She lives in Chicago. This lighthouse is on the shore of Lake Michigan. Natalie is enjoying the autumn, admiring the beautiful scenery.

1.10 vietettiin maailman postikorttipäivää ja siihen teemaan liittyen useilla paikkakunnilla järjestettiin WPD-miittejä. Tämä kortti tulee Walesista, Iso-Britanniasta ja sen lähetti juuri tuona päivänä Alison. Alison on jäänyt tänä vuonna eläkkeelle ja hän on eläköitymisessään vielä siinä vaiheessa että hän miettii miltä tämä aikakausi tuleekaan näyttämään. Pitää vielä mainita, että Alison oli valinnut hienot postimerkit, joissa oli minun lempiaiheet eli autot ja junat.

World Postcard Day was celebrated on 1 October and WPD rallies were organised in several places to mark the occasion. This card comes from Wales, UK and was sent by Alison on that very day. Alison retired this year and is still at the stage of retirement where she is thinking about what this era will look like. It should also be mentioned that Alison had chosen some great stamps featuring my favourite subjects, cars and trains.

Kemissäkin oli pidetty lokakuun ensimmäisenä päivänä WPD-miitti ja sieltä tuli Leenan lähettämänä tämä kortti. Kemissä oli ollut osanottajia kahdeksan ja he olivat pitäneet miitin ravintolassa, jossa ruoka oli hyvää ja pöytä tarpeeksi iso  ,eli siihen, että jokainen kirjoittaa tai leimaa nimensä isoon pinoon kortteja, jotka sitten lähtevät ympäri maailman.

A WPD meeting had also been held in Kemi on the first day of October, and this card came from there, sent by Leena. There had been eight participants in Kemi, and they had held the meeting in a restaurant where the food was good and the table was big enough for everyone to write or stamp their name on a big stack of cards, which would then go around the world.

Ja vielä yksi samaan aiheeseen liittyvä kortti joka on tosi veikeä. Sen lähetti Pirjo joka on harrastanut postcrossingia jo yksitoista vuotta. Hän oli iloinen että sai juuri minun osoitteeni kortilleen, sillä tämä oli ensimmäinen kortti jonka hän sai lähettää Ahvenanmaalle. 

And another card related to the same topic that is really cool. It was sent by Pirjo who has been doing postcrossing for eleven years. She was happy to get my address on her card, because this was the first card she was allowed to send to Åland.

Maryellen USA:sta lähetti tämän ihanan toukka-kortin. Kortissa on kuva kirjan kannesta. Tuon kirjan nimi on englanniksi "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" ja sen on kirjoittanut lastenkirjojen kirjailija Eric Carle.

Googlasin onko ko. kirjaa ilmestynyt suomeksi, ja olihan se ja se on nimeltään ""Pikku toukka paksukainen". 

Harmi kun Amerikan posti on laittanut tuollaisen leiman kivan kortin päälle.

Maryellen from the USA sent this lovely caterpillar card. The card has a picture of the book cover. The name of the book in English is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and it was written by children's book author Eric Carle. I googled whether the book in question had been published in Finnish, and it was, and it is called ""The Very Hungry Caterpillar". It's a shame that the American Post Office has put such a stamp on a nice card.

Kiinasta tulee tämä kortti, vaikka kuvassa onkin Japanin Fuji. Harmillista että lähettäjä on unohtanut kirjoittaa nimensä.

This card comes from China, even though the picture shows Japan's Fuji. Too bad the sender forgot to write his name.

Tänään tulikin postia kaukaa, sillä Kiinasta tuli toinenkin kortti. Sen lähetti Gladys, joka asuu pikkukaupungissa nimeltä Kaiping. No, rupesi kiinnostamaan mikä kiinalaisten mielestä on pikkukaupungin asukasmäärä, niin luin että siellä on n. 750.000 asukasta. Kaikki on suhteellista :)

Today I received mail from far away, because another card came from China. It was sent by Gladys, who lives in a small town called Kaiping. Well, I started to wonder what the Chinese think the population of a small town is, so I read that there are about 750,000 inhabitants. Everything is relative :)

Viimeinen kortti tulee Berliinistä, josta Wiebke lähetti minulle Maailman postikorttipäivän miittikortin. Tulipa tästä kuvan rakennuksesta mieleen Turussa oleva ihan samanoloinen rakennus Linnankadun ja Kristiinankadun risteyksessä.

The last card comes from Berlin, where Wiebke sent me a World Postcard Day greeting card. The building in this picture reminded me of a very similar building in Turku at the intersection of Linnankatu and Kristiinankatu.
