UUSI HARRASTUS - NEW HOBBY

 

Kaipaatko uutta harrastusta, jota voit harrastaa omaan tahtiin? Siihen voit käyttää paljon aikaa, tai sitten tosi vähän; ihan niin kuin sinulla riittää aikaa ja halua.

Oletko kuullut postcrossingista? 

Postcrossing sai alkunsa v. 2005 portugalilaisen Paulo Magalhaesin toimesta.

Minäkin harrastin n. 10 vuotta sitten postcrossingia, mutta sitten jostain syystä lopetin. Olin jo lähettänyt satoja kortteja maailmalle ja saanut yhtä monia itselleni. Harmittaa että olen poistanut silloisen tilini, olisinhan voinut jatkaa sen kanssa nytkin. Mutta nyt siis aloitin ihan nollasta.

Postcrossingsivuston kieli on englanti, mutta itselleni, keskikouluenglannin lukeneelle, ei ole tuottanut vaikeuksia selvitä sivuston käytöstä. 

Are you looking for a new hobby that you can do at your own pace? You can spend a lot of time on it, or very little; just as you have the time and desire. Have you heard of postcrossing? Postcrossing was started in 2005 by the Portuguese Paulo Magalhaes. I also did postcrossing about 10 years ago, but then for some reason I stopped. I had already sent hundreds of cards to the world and received just as many for myself. It's a shame that I deleted my account from then, because I could have continued with it now. But now I'm starting from scratch. The language of the Postcrossing website is English, but for me, who studied English in middle school, it hasn't caused any difficulties in figuring out how to use the site.

Postcrossingiin liittyminen eli rekisteröityminen:

- valitse itsellesi haluamasi nimimerkki, kirjoita oma osoitteesi ja halutessasi

  muutama sana itsestäsi julkiseen profiiliin. Huom. osoitteesi ei ole julkisesti 

  luettavissa!

- kun olet rekisteröitynyt voit pyytää ensimmäisen osoitteen johon lähetät

  kortin. Sivusto arpoo tällöin sinulle yhden osoitteen satojentuhansien joukosta.

  Siihen osoitteeseen lähetät ensimmäisen korttisi.Osoitteen lisäksi saat

  ID-eli tunnistenumeron joka sinun pitää kirjoittaa korttiin. Tähän ID-numeroon

  perustuu postcrossing-korttien kierto.

- kun korttisi saapuu määränpäähän, sen saaja kirjautuu sivulle ja rekisteröi

  kortin käyttäen siinä lukevaa ID-numeroa. Rekisteröinnistä saat sähköpostiviestin

  ja vastaanottajan tervehdysviestin.

- sitten on jännityksen paikka, sillä korttisi perille meno tarkoittaa sitä, että

  pian sinä saat postia jostain päin maailmaa.

- kun sinä saat kortin, sinä kirjaudut sivuille, naputtelet ID-numeron ja lähetät

  terveisiä lähettäjälle. Näin ketju jatkuu, yhdistäen ihmisiä ympäri maailman.

Tällä hetkellä postcrossingissa on yli 800.000 jäsentä 208:ssa maassa. Sivustolta näin että Ahvenanmaalla on 41 postcrossingin harrastajaa, muualla Suomessa 16.479.

Joining Postcrossing or registering: - choose a nickname of your choice, write your own address and, if you wish, a few words about yourself in your public profile. Note: your address is not publicly readable! - when you have registered, you can request the first address to which you will send the card. The site will then draw one address for you out of hundreds of thousands. You will send your first card to that address. In addition to the address, you will receive an ID, or identification number, which you must write on the card. The circulation of Postcrossing cards is based on this ID number. - when your card arrives at its destination, the recipient logs in to the site and registers the card using the ID number on it. You will receive an email and a greeting message from the recipient upon registration. - then there is the excitement, because the arrival of your card means that soon you will receive mail from somewhere in the world. - when you receive the card, you log in to the site, type in the ID number and send greetings to the sender. And so the chain continues, connecting people all over the world. Currently, there are over 800,000 members in postcrossing in 208 countries. From the website, I saw that there are 41 postcrossing enthusiasts in Åland, and 16,479 in the rest of Finland.

Minä liityin postcrossingiin neljä päivää sitten ja postitin saman tien ensimmäiset korttini. Sain järjestelmän kautta viisi nimeä ja osoitetta joihin lähetin kortit. Yksi kortti lähti Hollantiin, toinen Saksaan, kolmas Amerikkaan, neljäs Taiwaniin ja viides Kiinaan.

Ennen kuin valitsin vastaanottajille kortit, kävin tutustumassa heidän profiileihinsa. Profiilissa voi esittää mahdollisia toivomuksia siitä minkälaisia kortteja toivoo. 

Itse kerroin omassa profiilissani että tykkään majakkakorteista, luontokorteista, kasvikorteista, puutarhoista, rakennuksista, ovista ja ikkunoista.

Nyt odotan että ensimmäiset kortit tulevat pian perille.

Kuvassa olevaan, minulla ennestään olleeseen laatikkoon, rupean saamiani kortteja keräämään. Nyt siihen mahtuvat vielä nekin kortit jotka minä tulen lähettämään maailmalle.

Tässä harrastuksessa kivointa on minun mielestäni se kaikki toiminta jota tässä saa harrastaa, eli korttien rekisteröiminen ja toisten harrastajien korttien katseleminen. Omalle postcrossingseinälle tulevat näkyviin saamani kortit sitä mukaa kun niitä rekisteröin. 

I joined Postcrossing four days ago and immediately sent my first cards. I received five names and addresses through the system to which I sent the cards. One card went to Holland, another to Germany, a third to America, a fourth to Taiwan and a fifth to China. Before I chose the cards for the recipients, I went to their profiles. In the profile you can make possible wishes about what kind of cards you would like. I myself said in my own profile that I like lighthouse cards, nature cards, plant cards, gardens, buildings, doors and windows. Now I am waiting for the first cards to arrive soon. In the box in the picture, which I already had, I will start collecting the cards I have received. Now it will also fit the cards that I will send to the world. In my opinion, the most enjoyable thing about this hobby is all the activities that you can do here, i.e. registering the cards and looking at the cards of other enthusiasts. The cards I receive will appear on my Postcrossing wall as I register them.

Jos harrastaisi postimerkkien keräilyä, niin tämän harrastuksen kautta niitä saisi kivasti kerättyä. Itse en merkkejä kerää, mutta kun kävin niitä ostamassa, niin ihailin niiden kauneutta. Tuo mehiläismerkkikin on aivan ihana.

Jos tästä harrastuksesta jotain negatiivista haluaa sanoa, niin se on ehdottomasti tosi korkeat postimaksut. Hirvittää kyllä se, että eurooppaan menevien korttien postimaksu on 3€, samoin muualle maailmaan. Kotimaahan kortti menee 2,70 eurolla.

Kortteja sitä vastoin voi saada hyvinkin halvalla. Ostin itse kirpparilta kauniita (ks. ylimmäinen kuva) , ensiluokkaisessa kunnossa olevia kortteja edullisesti. 20 kpl kortteja maksoi yhteensä vain 2€.  Ennen kuin älysin etsiä kortteja kirpparilta ostin viisi korttia ruokakaupasta ja siellä niiden hinta olikin sitten ihan toista luokkaa. Jopa postista sain ostaa halvemmalla kortteja, kuin sieltä.

Onneksi tässä harrastuksessa voi lähettää kortteja niin harvakseltaan kuin itse haluaa, tai ehtii. 

If you were a stamp collector, you could collect them through this hobby. I don't collect stamps myself, but when I went to buy them, I admired their beauty. That bee stamp is absolutely lovely. If there's anything negative to say about this hobby, it's definitely the really high postage. It's terrible that the postage for cards to Europe is €3, and the same goes for other places in the world. A card to Finland costs €2.70. Cards, on the other hand, can be bought very cheaply. I bought beautiful (see the top picture) cards in first-class condition at a flea market for a good price. 20 cards cost a total of only €2. Before I thought of looking for cards at a flea market, I bought five cards at a grocery store and the price there was completely different. I could even buy cards cheaper at the post office than there. Fortunately, in this hobby you can send cards as infrequently as you want or have time for.
