Löydätkö kissan? - Can you find the cat?

 

Taas on muutamia kortteja tullut. Grahame, joka asuu Lontoossa on eläkkeellä. Hän tykkää matkustella ja on käynyt jopa Ahvenanmaalla ja muualla Suomessa ihan Lappia myöten. Lapissa Hetassa hän ystävineen joutui jonkinlaiseen pulaan josta heidät onneksi pelastettiin. Hyviä muistoja matkasta kuitenkin jäi.

A few cards have arrived again. Grahame, who lives in London, is retired. He likes to travel and has even been to Åland and other parts of Finland, right up to Lapland. In Hetta, Lapland, he and his friends got into some kind of trouble from which they were fortunately rescued. However, he left good memories of the trip.

Angie asuu Wisconsissa USA:ssa. Kuvan kirkko on rakennettu v. 1926 ja Angie asui aikaisemmin ihan sen lähellä. Kirkkoa kutsutaan nimellä "Holy Hill".Tosi kaunis kuva kauniista kirkosta ja ympäristöstä. Harmi että kortti on hiukan kärsinyt matkalla.

Angie lives in Wisconsin, USA. The church in the picture was built in 1926 and Angie used to live right next to it. The church is called "Holy Hill". A really beautiful picture of a beautiful church and surroundings. Too bad the card has suffered a bit in transit.

Vuosi täyteen - One year

 

Hurraa! Kohta on tullut vuosi täyteen postcrossing-harrastuksessa. Tämän vuoden aikana olen lähettänyt yhteensä 186 korttia, joista kaksitoista on vielä matkalla vastaanottajilleen.

Jonkinlainen säilytysjärjestelmä pitää korteille tietysti olla että löytää monien joukosta sellaisen jota vastaanottaja on toivonut, tai muuten sellaisen jonka haluaa lähettää.

Olen ratkaissut säilytyksen niin, että minulla on kaksi muovista laatikkoa joissa kortit säilytän. Ylläolevassa kuvassa ovat ne kortit joita itse lähetän. Olen lajitellut kortit aihealueittain jotta sopiva kortti on helpompi löytää.

Hurray! It's almost been a year since I started postcrossing. During this year, I have sent a total of 186 cards, twelve of which are still on their way to their recipients. Of course, there must be some kind of storage system for the cards so that I can find the one the recipient has wanted, or else the one they want to send. I have solved the storage problem by having two plastic boxes in which I store the cards. The picture above shows the cards that I send myself. I have sorted the cards by subject area so that it is easier to find the right card.

Nyt kun kortteja on vielä suhteellisen vähän, niin ne mahtuvat hyvin yhdelle vaatekaappini hyllylle. Sitten kun noita laatikoita kertyy useampia niin on tietysti keksittävä jokin muu ratkaisu säilytykseen.

Now that there are still relatively few cards, they fit nicely on one shelf in my wardrobe. Then when there are more of those boxes, of course I'll have to come up with another storage solution.

Tässä toisessa laatikossa puolestaan on ne kortit jotka itse olen saanut. Ne olen lajitellut maittain. Ensin lajittelin ne aiheittain, mutta nyt kun ne ovat maan mukaan järjestyksessä, niin huomaa helposti jos tulee kortti jostain uudesta maasta.

Yritin ensin löytää kirjakaupasta sopivia välilehtiä joihin kirjoittaa maiden nimet, mutta ne olivat hiukan heppoisia ja pieniä. Mutta hätä keinot keksii. Meillä oli jäätelönhimoni jäljiltä tallessa pino jäätelörasioita ja niiden kansista sain tehtyä hyvät ja kestävät välilehdet.

Kortit ovat aakkosjärjestyksessä, joten on helppo löytää oikea paikka tulleelle kortille.

This other box contains the cards that I have received myself. I have sorted them by country. At first I sorted them by topic, but now that they are in order by country, it is easy to see if a card comes from a new country. At first I tried to find suitable tabs at the bookstore to write the names of the countries on, but they were a bit flimsy and small.  We had a stack of ice cream boxes in storage due to my ice cream craving, and I was able to make good and durable tabs from their covers. The cards are in alphabetical order, so it is easy to find the right place for the card that has arrived.

 

Tällainen pino jo on kertynyt saamistani korteista ja on siinä mukana muuta kirjekin jonka korttien lähettäjä on kortin lisäksi kirjoittanut.

I've already accumulated a pile like this from the cards I've received, and it also includes other letters that the sender of the cards has written in addition to the card.

Tältä laatikko näyttää tyhjänä. Se on leveydeltään juuri sopiva normaalikokoisille korteille ja on kätevää kun siinä on nuo aukot päissä. Laatikoissa on lisäksi kannet, jotka ovat hyvät olemassa sitten kun laatikko tulee täyteen ja niitä pitää tilan säästämiseksi pinota päällekkäin.

Ja ovathan nämä laatikot tosi hyvät kaikenlaisen muunkin pikkutavaran säilytykseen esim. keittiössä, vaikka jääkaapissa. Myös askartelijoille uskoisin näiden olevan käyttökelpoisia.

This is what the box looks like when empty. It is just the right width for normal-sized cards and it is convenient to have those openings at the ends. The boxes also have lids, which are good to have when the box is full and they need to be stacked on top of each other to save space. And these boxes are really good for storing all kinds of other small items, for example in the kitchen, even in the refrigerator. I would also think that these would be useful for crafters.
