UPEAT MAJAKAT - WONDERFUL LIGHTHOUSES

 

Taas välillä korttien pariin. Viisi uutta korttia on tipahtanut postilaatikkooni viime päivinä.

Tähän majakkakorttiin liittyy ihmeellinen sattuma. Kortti tulee USA:sta, Floridasta ja sen lähetti Jenean. 

Sattuma on seuraavanlainen: Olin saanut kortin USA:sta ja koska postcrossingissa saadut kortit rekisteröidään, niin rupesin tuota korttia rekisteröimään. Joka korttiin merkitsee lähettäjä  ID-koodin, jonka vastaanottaja  tarvitsee jotta voi rekisteröinnin tehdä.

Kortissa oli tuo koodi kirjoitettu niin, että en pystynyt päättelemään onko koodin viimeinen numero 1 vai 7. Ajattelin että kokeilen ensin ykköstä. No se antoikin kuvan kortista jossa oli tuo ykkösellä päättynyt koodi. Mutta kun sitten rupesin katsomaan minkälainen kortti tuon koodin taakse kätkeytyy, niin ei se ollut ollenkaan se kortti jonka olin saanut.

Päätin sitten kokeilla sitä toista koodia joka päättyi seitsemään ja sieltähän tulikin näkyviin se kortti jota pitelin kädessäni.

Eli tässä oli käynyt niin että kaksi postcrossaajaa USA:sta oli melkein samanaikaisesti lähettänyt minulle kortin, ja toisessa tuo ID-koodi päättyi ykkösellä, toisessa seiskalla, muuten numerot olivat täsmälleen samat kummassakin.

Five new cards have landed in my mailbox in the last few days. There is a wonderful coincidence associated with this lighthouse card. The card comes from the USA, Florida, and was sent by Jenean. The coincidence is as follows: I had received a card from the USA and since cards received through Postcrossing are registered, I started registering that card. On each card, the sender writes an ID code, which the recipient needs in order to register. The code was written on the card in such a way that I couldn't tell whether the last digit of the code was 1 or 7. I thought I would try number one first. Well, it gave me a picture of a card with that code ending in one. But when I then started to see what kind of card was hidden behind that code, it wasn't the card I had received at all. I then decided to try the other code that ended in seven and that's where the card I was holding in my hand appeared. So what happened here was that two postcrossers from the USA had sent me a card almost simultaneously, and in one the ID code ended with a one, in the other with a seven, otherwise the numbers were exactly the same in both.

Tämä upea kortti oli kirjekuoressa ja hämmästykseni oli suuri kun kortin viesti oli kokonaan kirjoitettu suomeksi. Kortin lähetti Erina, joka asuu Washingtonissa, mutta rakastaa New Yorkia, josta valokuva on otettu v. 1933.

Erina osaa jonkin verran suomea, sillä hän on lapsena asunut kolme vuotta Suomessa.

This wonderful card was in an envelope and I was amazed to see that the message on the card was written entirely in Finnish. The card was sent by Erina, who lives in Washington, but loves New York, where the photo was taken in 1933. Erina knows some Finnish, as she lived in Finland for three years as a child.

Lähipäivinä on tullut kolmaskin mustavalkoinen kortti (joita olen toivonutkin). Kortissa näyttäisi olevan lentokoneen hylky, mutta kortissa ei lue tarkempia tietoja siitä. Olisipa ollut mielenkiintoista lukea tuosta hylystä jotain.

Kortin lähettäjä, 23-vuotias Lucie, asuu Pariisissa ja saa tänä vuonna päätökseen elokuva-alan koulutuksensa.

Jännä yksityiskohta tässä kortissa oli se, ettei postimerkkiä ollut ollenkaan. Postimerkin paikalle oli tussilla kirjoitettu "Student to student". Ehkä opiskelijat Ranskassa saavat lähettää kortteja ilmaiseksi?

A third black and white card has arrived in the next few days (which I've been hoping for). The card appears to show a plane wreck, but the card doesn't give any more details about it. It would have been interesting to read something about that wreck. The sender of the card, 23-year-old Lucie, lives in Paris and will finish her film studies this year. An interesting detail about this card was that there was no stamp at all. Instead of a stamp, "Student to student" was written in marker. Maybe students in France are allowed to send cards for free?

Viimeinen kortti ei ole varsinaisesti tullut postcrossingin kautta, mutta liittyy siihen vahvasti. Blogini lukija Sini tarjosi minulle häneltä jääneitä postikortteja ja ostinkin niitä ison nivaskan edulliseen hintaan, koska hän ei enää niitä tarvitse kun on lopettanut postcrossailun.

The last card didn't actually come through Postcrossing, but it is strongly related to it. My blog reader Sini offered me some postcards she had left over and I bought them for a great price, because she no longer needs them after she stopped Postcrossing.
